Senior Systems Engineer

Clearspring is seeking a talented, knowledgeable, and motivated Linux Systems Engineer to play an active role in building and supporting our production operations and software development environment. Our network of global data centers and related systems are relied upon to deliver content for the world's most prominent media companies, serving millions of widgets on a daily basis. Primary Responsibilities
- Design/deploy/maintain global systems for geographic redundancy and high performance web applications
- Monitor system performance using the available tools, and modify system-tuning parameters as appropriate
- Oversee system recovery after failures due to hardware or system software errors, and assist in recovery after failures due to user or application software errors if required
- Interface between data center and managed hosting providers and engineering
- Design/deploy/maintain storage systems
- Work with engineers on long term planning for data storage and application development
Required Skills/Experience
- 5-7 years of professional experience with Unix/Linux based Internet-scale production systems
- Direct experience planning and executing strategies around high-availability computing issues such as load balancers, failover, redundant systems and clustering
- Proven success in synthesizing usage data, forecasts, and contingencies to develop long term scalability and availability strategies across multiple, distributed data centers
- Experience with network design including Cisco systems, firewalls, and layer 3 switches
- Prior experience with the administration and tuning of LAMP and Java applications
- SAN/NAS experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
