Linux Systems Engineer

Clearspring is seeking a talented, knowledgeable, and motivated Linux Systems Engineer to play an active role in building and supporting our production operations and software development environment. Our network of global data centers and related systems are relied upon to deliver content for the world's most prominent media companies, serving millions of widgets on a daily basis. Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor production operations in a 24/7 global environment for a high-availability, Internet-scale software as service platform
- Identify, scope and solve hardware and OS problems in collaboration with the Engineering team
- Test, stage, and deploy OS and security patches
- Serve as the primary point of contact and interface between data center, managed hosting providers and Engineering
- Write scripts to monitor servers and network segments
- Monitor system performance using the available tools and modify system-tuning parameters as appropriate
Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in hands on System Administration/Engineering roles in a *nix environment (Linux experience preferred)
- Direct experience with highly available, Internet-scale production Web applications
- Proficient with Linux hardware/software troubleshooting (RedHat/Fedora/Centos Linux)
- Ability to develop/modify shell scripts (python/perl is a plus)
- Proficiency with automation tools (kickstart/jumpstart)
- Experience with monitoring tools such as nagios (snmp is a plus)
